Ik ben pas in Rome geweest. En ik ben normaliter iemand die gewend is aan Schotland, Ierland, Noorwegen, kortom: veel groen, rust en geen achterlijk hete temperaturen. Enkele dingen die mij opvielen als je een stad als Londen of Wenen (goed geregeld!!) gewend bent: - Ze spreken slecht engels. De meeste mensen in de winkels in de stad zelf gaat wel. Als je een beetje buiten het centrum ligt (holiday inn hotel in San Giovanni bijvoorbeeld), dan is het engels bijna niet aanwezig. Enkele jongere mensen die bijvoorbeeld een ijssalonnetje hebben kunnen je nog wel eens te weg wijzen.
