What are the disadvantages of Samsung Odyssey G9? ›

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is good for media consumption. It has a large screen and high resolution to deliver an immersive viewing experience. However, even though it has a decent native contrast, it has terrible local dimming, and it has bad black uniformity, making it less ideal for dark rooms.

The LG 38GL950G-B is better than the Samsung Odyssey G9 overall; however, they're very different monitors. The LG has an IPS panel with much wider viewing angles, better color accuracy, and significantly faster response time. The Samsung has a VA panel, gets a lot brighter, and has a higher refresh rate.

Luckily, its height means you won't have to back away too far, like you would from a large 16:9 screen. Sitting at the usual 2-3 feet is ideal.

The Odyssey Neo G9 comes with a dual 4K resolution, with a pixel count of 7680 x 2160. If you can't recognize the math, that's two 3840 x 2160 ( 4K ) screens put side-by-side. Samsung is billing this as an 8K monitor, but it's not true 8K. It has half the vertical resolution.

The major difference is that the Neo G9 has Mini LED backlighting, so it gets brighter and has much better local dimming. It also has HDMI 2.1 inputs, while the G9 has HDMI 2.0, so you can achieve a higher refresh rate over HDMI on the Neo G9.

Is 1000R too curved for work? ›

Are 1000R Monitors Good for Productivity and Work? Yes, except if you're doing precision design work. For that you should really stick with flat displays as those depict straight lines in a more traditional way than curved panels. Running Multiple Ultrawides Can Be Awkward
