For many reasons, the Fantic Trial 200 can be regarded as a historic machine. It revolutionized trials riding and sowed the seeds of its revival. Spanish 350cc two-strokes (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa) that had dominated the discipline for some fifteen years.

Fantic are an Italian motorcycle manufacturer who started life in 1968 but built a solid reputation in the UK in the 1970s when, alongside their off-roaders, they released some very quick 50cc learner bikes.

Fantic Motor began in 1968, manufacturing and exporting enduro motorcycles, mini-bikes and go-karts. Today they continue in the same genre, though the names have changed to dual-sport and motard (supermoto), and they have returned to the US market in 2016, as Fantic USA Inc.

The collaboration marks the start of a long term strategy. It is a step further in collaboration for Fantic Motor and historic engine supplier Motori Minarelli S.p.a which is owned by Yamaha Motor. These motors are used in two-stroke 50cc and four-stroke 125cc engines, used in Fantic's Motard and Enduro models.
